A Joyful Start to a Lifelong Journey of Learning

An Enriching Curriculum for Early Learners: Tailored for Kindergarten Students

Our curriculum is carefully crafted to meet the developmental needs of young children; it combines structured learning with play based activities. Through engaging lessons and hands on experiences students explore key areas such as:

  • Catechism: In our school, we create a kind, respectful and compassionate environment in which to introduce students to the Catholic faith, prayers, and values. Traditional prayers such as The Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and Prayer to Guardian Angels are taught to our students; as well as songs.
  • Language Development: Phonics, storytelling, and early literacy skills.
  • Mathematics: Numbers, shapes, patterns and problem solving in a fun and interactive way.
  • Science and Nature Exploration: To observe, question and experiment with the world around them.
  • Creative Arts: Drawing, painting, music and drama to foster self expression.
  • Physical Education: Age appropriate physical activities to help develop coordination and motor skills, as well as a love of movement. To ensure that every child develops academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually during these formative years, this balanced approach is kept.

At Christ the King Academy we see the kindergarten years as a time of learning, growth and discovery. In kindergarten we are preparing children for academic success as well as for life – for creativity, for curiosity and for confidence. In line with faith based principles and a commitment to excellence, we provide a safe haven for every child to feel valued and supported.

Religion & Moral Education

As a Catholic institution, faith is woven into every aspect of our kindergarten programme. Students are introduced to basic religious teachings through stories, prayers, and group discussions which are on love, kindness, and gratitude. These lessons are also supplemented by activities that are designed to promote compassion and empathy towards the young learners to help them become caring individuals in the society.

A Caring and Supportive Environment

At Christ the King Academy, we know that a key factor in a child’s development is his or her need to have a safe and comforting environment in which to grow. The well trained and very much dedicated teachers will give each child individual attention to make him or her comfortable as he or she starts the learning process.

We also concentrate on the establishment of a good interaction between teachers, students, and parents. The teachers are not only authority figures who provide information but also counselors who assist the children in their development including the emotional and social aspects. Thus, we create a cohesive learning environment for children to foster cooperation, communication, and conflict solving.

Hands-On Learning and Exploration

The kindergarten program at Christ the King Academy is based on discovery. We include children in real life experiences in learning processes that make them to be interested. It may be a nature walk to observe animals in the wild to our students, a science game to teach them about weather or an art and craft activity. We make it a point that our students learn in a fun and informative way.

This approach helps children understand that what they are learning can be applied in the real world, thus making learning an interesting game. There are objects in the classroom for the children to use—books, puzzles, building blocks, art materials and so on—in order to develop their own thinking and imagination.

Social skills and emotional skills development

Kindergarten years are the formative years in the child’s social and emotional development. We at Christ the King Academy believe that sociability is as important for children as knowledge. Teachers at our school help children to develop sharing, taking turns, words for feelings and the solving of disagreements peacefully, all proper social behaviours.

We also focus on the emotional aspect as we teach the children about feelings, empathy and self-esteem. Daily interactions and structured activities help students to develop their friendship, cooperation with others, and appreciation of diversity.
